Redundancies

ITV announced 600 redundancies in 2009, bringing the total number of positions lost since the start of 2008 to 1,600. Redundancies were made across the business, with the largest number in channels and at ITV Studios. We informed everyone whose positions were potentially affected well in advance of any action being taken, and carried out a comprehensive consultation process before confirming any redundancies.

We offered affected individuals an enhanced redundancy package and provided them with support with finding future work, including career coaching and workshops on interview techniques and CV writing. The counselling, advice and guidance we offer under our Employee Assistance Programme also helped support employees during this time of change. Because redundancies affect morale across the business, we also provided support for our remaining employees. In 2009 we ran a series of workshops for employees to discuss how it has affected them and obtain support for planning their future with the company.

In 2009 we announced further restructuring that will be completed in 2010. This includes the outsourcing of some IT services and the acquisition of GMTV. We have also announced a strategic review, following the appointment of Adam Crozier as CEO.
